Those charged with offenses commonly known as “sex crimes,”  face not only serious criminal penalties, but also, if convicted, they would be subjected  to registering as a sexual offender for life.   Depending on the offense, the penalties can range from probation, fines and community service, to significant jail time.  Federal prosecutions from offenses involving child pornography are rising, and the penalties are often  severe.  “Sex crimes” include:

  • Rape
  • Sodomy
  • Sexual assault
  • Child pornography
  • Indecent exposure
  • Solicitation of a minor
